Anna Hopfensberger
About
Anna Hopfensberger is a painter based between Munich and New York whose work explores themes of identity, power, and the human relationship with nature and the animal world. Her paintings blend classical techniques with expressive, symbolic content, resulting in emotionally resonant and conceptually layered works. Drawing from art history, mythology, and literature, Hopfensberger’s work reflects on contemporary social and psychological tensions while engaging in a visual dialogue with the past.
She earned her MFA in Painting from the New York Academy of Art in 2025, following earlier studies at the Art Academy in Kolbermoor, Germany (2019–2022). Her paintings navigate the boundaries between realism and metaphor, capturing what is urgent, uncomfortable, or unresolved in today’s cultural and emotional landscape.
Hopfensberger’s work has been exhibited internationally across Germany, the United States, the UAE, Egypt, Italy, and Austria. Notable exhibitions include museum shows at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in Cairo and the Frauenmuseum in Bonn. She has also participated in the World Art Dubai Fair and been featured in British Vogueand Tatler (UK).
