The work of International Underwater Photographer Kelly Spranger will be on display from Thursday, December 7th, 2006 through January 8th, 2007, as part of the “Water” exhibit at the van der Plas Gallery at South Street Seaport.
The show consists of Ms. Spranger’s abstract underwater images from the Red Sea, Caribbean and California printed on silk banners and traditional photo paper. The images illustrate the abundant beauty of sea life with their vibrant colors and enormous variety of corals, fish and invertebrates.
Kelly Spranger has traveled and/or lived in a variety of places including Grand Cayman, Bonaire, Trinidad and Tobago, Bermuda, Turks & Caicos, St. Croix, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico and Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. Her work has been published in magazines such as PADI’s Undersea Journal, Rodale’s Scuba Diving, American Photographer, Sport Diver, and DAN’s Alert Diver. She has also been featured on Discovery Channel with videography of the S.S. Thistlegorm shipwreck.
There is no admission fee for this exhibit and in addition to Ms. Spranger’s work, there will be select work from artists Konstantin Bokov, Michael Gaspar, Julia Shaternik Simeon Ostrovosky, Dimitry Sema, Artem Mirolevich, Peter Zonis, and Annie Shaver-Crandell. van der Plas Gallery is located at 89 South Street Seaport, Pier 17, second floor, New York, NY.
